About Professor Dame Sara Thornton DBE QPM
Professor Dame Sara Thornton DBE QPM is a leading expert on modern slavery and human rights in business.
She is Professor of Modern Slavery Policy at the Rights Lab, University of Nottingham, and advises CCLA Investment Management on tackling modern slavery in supply chains and the role of investors in driving change.
From 2019 to 2022, Dame Sara served as the UK Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, spearheading national efforts to combat human trafficking and modern slavery. Prior to this, she had a distinguished 33-year policing career, including serving as Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police and as the first Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council.
